Awards
It is important for us to validate and support those individuals who have made significant contributions to the field. Deserving individuals are encouraged to apply for the following awards:
Outstanding Dissertation in the Field of College Literacy and Learning—awarded to an individual who completes within the biennium at an accredited institution a doctoral dissertation demonstrating superior ability in research and writing skills in the field of college literacy and learning, recipients may or may not be members of CLL.
Outstanding Service to the Field of College Literacy and Learning— awarded to an individual who has contributed significantly through teaching, research, or other such public acts which have benefited students, broadened the knowledge base, and /or enhanced the reputation of the field of college literacy and learning. Recipients may or may not be members of CLL.
Outstanding Writing in the Field of College Literacy and Learning— awarded to an individual for published writing(s) in the field of college literacy and learning. Writings to be considered for this award shall include articles in refereed journals or yearbooks, and essays, monographs, and books published by non-vanity presses. Recipients may or may not be members of CLL.
Dedication and Commitment to the Field of College Literacy and Learning—awarded to an elected or appointed officer, committee chair, editor, representative, or outstanding committee member, for dedication and commitment to the field of college literacy and learning and for contributing significantly during his/her tenure to the achievement of the purposes of CLL.

Hall of Fame Honorees are past board members who have retired from service, but deserve recognition for their past contributions to the SIG.

In 2009, CLL SIG award titles were revised to reflect the changing character of the field. Prior to 2010, awards were given in the field of “College Reading & Study Skills”. Beginning in 2010 field description was revised to “College Literacy & Learning”. In 2015, the International Reading Association changed its name to the International Literacy Association. Awards given prior to 2016, bear the former title.
